IN THEIR OWN WORDS...

I was approached by the the organizers of the 4th annual "Mind Games" trivia fundraiser for the Children's Mental Health Foundation in London ON. Looking for a video to be played during the middle of the event, they wanted a piece that would emotionally connect with the crowd and remind everybody that money was being raised for a very important cause.

We decided to let past patients of the Child & Adolescent Mental Health Centre tell their stories of success.

I met with both children and their parents. We sat down and discussed the best way to tell their stories, including how graduating from the program changed their lives. Both Charlotte and Dawson are both incredibly brave to be ambassadors for mental health at their young ages.

The text on screen is their own words in their own handwriting.

On a personal note, this project has a very special meaning for me, as the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Centre has helped my family when no other option was available to us.

Testimonial

“We hired Edward, on the recommendation of a friend familiar with his work, to undertake a project that involved telling the stories of young people navigating the mental health care system. At all stages of the process, Edward was sensitive and respectful to the children and their families. His ideas transformed the project into a powerful message of hope and a persuasive tool for donations to a non-profit. When the video played at a fundraiser, the formerly raucous atmosphere became reverent: You could have heard a pin drop. I would not hesitate to recommend Edward to anyone seeking a creative, thoughtful and talented film-maker and storyteller, and I look forward to the day when I can, again, work with him.”
